About Me

My creating began in the space between Motion and Stillness. Long before I called myself an artist, I was drawn to the quiet tension where forms settle and textures speak, the rhythm of time etched into surfaces, the stillness that holds memory.

Born in Saudi Arabia to Egyptian parents and now based in the UAE, my journey has always unfolded between places, between identities, and between states of being.

I am Marwa Elbadawi, a visual artist, designer, and educator. My work explores the delicate balance between movement and pause, where materials carry emotion, and imperfections become meditations. Rooted in Islamic metaphysics and guided by the philosophy of wabi-sabi, I create works that feel both sacred and grounded, ephemeral and eternal.

Through textures, fragments, and symbolic forms, I examine the dialogue between heritage and contemporary presence. Whether working with wood, plaster, or pigment, my practice is an act of listening, a conversation between self and spirit, tradition and transformation.

In every piece, I aim to reveal what often goes unnoticed: the beauty of transitions, the grace in erosion, the power of restraint. My art lives where time lingers and where stillness begins to move.

Selected Works

Each piece is a quiet reflection, a dialogue between material and memory, silence and surface.
From marquetry to mixed media, this selection explores my evolving journey as an artist.
